A NEW meadow planting scheme in Wrose has been praised by residents on social media.
Meadowland and wildflowers have been planted at the bottom of Wrose Recreation Ground and along the roadside at the top of Gaisby Lane by Bradford Council’s Parks & Landscape department.
The Council says that feedback from local residents has been "overwhelmingly positive" with people stating how beautiful the planting looks.
Sue Busby from Yates Flat in Wrose said, “When we were having our local walk today we noticed the lovely swathes of plants and flowers at the top of Gaisby Lane. Lots of bees and other insects were attracted by them and it was a great sight.”
Weeds or 'diverse flora?' Areas of Bradford's parks will be left to grow wild
Janice Byron posted on the Windhill and Wrose Councillors Facebook page to say "Stopped at work traffic lights on Sunday and I said to my hubby, 'Wow look at all those wildflowers', they looked beautiful!"
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw (Windhill & Wrose, Lab) said: “We’ve been wanting to do some wildflower meadow planting in Wrose for a while now to complement the tree planting we did a few years ago.
"It’s great for the environment and looks amazing too. The feedback has been so positive we’re really keen to see if we can do some more elsewhere in Windhill & Wrose.”
Wildflower meadows are better for the environment than standard cut grass, boosting biodiversity and often reducing maintenance costs to the Council.
