After spending nearly ten days in intensive care a Bradford security guard, who was stabbed during a robbery, is said to be in an "improving" condition.

David Davies, who suffered numerous stab wounds when he was attacked in Cleckheaton, was also out of the intensive care unit at Dewsbury District Hospital.

Father-of-two Mr Davies, 32, of Bierley, was attacked by two masked men as he delivered money for a cash machine at the Tesco supermarket in the town.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said they had received some good information from the public following an emotional appeal for help by Mr Davies's pregnant wife Sarah, 29.

The spokesman said: "We are following some very positive lines of inquiry and forensic inquiries are on going."

Mr Davies worked for Group 4 Securicor. A company spokesman wished Mr Davies a fast recovery.

He said: "We are committed to maintaining the safety of our staff and the general public.

"G4S Cash Services continues to work closely with trade unions, the police, the Government and relevant local authorities to develop initiatives that will curtail the growing number of violent attacks taking place against the cash-in-transit industry," they said.

Witnesses to the attack, which occurred at about 2pm on Monday, November 12, should contact Dewsbury CID on (01924) 431082 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
