PROPOSALS to convert a warehouse in a Keighley Conservation Area into housing have been approved by Bradford Council.
A planning application to turn a building off Croft House Lane in the Low Utley area into two, four bedroom houses were submitted by P Ward earlier this year.
The application has now been approved by planning officers.
This part of Keighley is designated as a Conservation area due to being a "17th century enclave" surrounded by more modern, post war housing.
The building was originally built as a barn, was then used as a warehouse from 1953-1963.
Retrospective plan to turn pub in city centre conservation area into shop and flats is refused
It has been identified as ‘retail / commercial’ in the 2008 Lower Utley Conservation Appraisal - the most recent assessment of the historic part of the town.
The application says there will be minimal changes to the building, and new features sich as windows will match the style of other buildings in the protected area.
It adds: "The proposals have been sympathetically designed and scaled to integrate within its industrial village landscape."
The plans were approved earlier this week.
One condition of the application is that any new windows be timber framed, rather than made of more modern materials that would be out of place in the Conservation Area.
