A MAN who has overcome both the loss of his wife and Covid-19 has thanked Wibsey residents after they helped recover £250 worth of lost money.
Janice Lloyd, operations director at Heavenly Funeral Services, said a staff member had been preparing for their Folly Hall Road branch to reopen when he saw a substantial amount of money on the floor. After finding the money, left outside the Ancient Foresters pub, he immediately looked around but saw nobody in the area who might be able to help.
The employee brought the money back to the Office and began to trace the owner through Facebook and other means.
Eventually rightful owner Malcolm was found and described by Janice as "over the moon".
Malcolm explained he had "suffered badly" after being too unwell to commemorate his wife's passing due to being hospitalised for coronavirus.
Malcolm gave the employee a reward as a sincere thanks for handing in his money, thanking Wibsey villagers for their honesty.
