THIS is the scene outside Glenny's Nightclub as a popular Bradford DJ makes his way past one last time.

The funeral car for the much loved Glenville Atkinson is expected to pass the club around 1.30pm before being laid to rest.

Speaking ahead of his funeral, Jonathan Kirk, who recently renamed the former Envy Nightlife club in his memory, said: "Start work on the new nightclub up there until we meet again my brother."

Glenville 'Glenny' Atkinson, 36, sadly passed away earlier this month after a cardiac arrest.

Tributes continue to pour in for the man described as a 'bassline pioneer' with Rochelle Lofthouse saying: "RIP glenny gone but never forgotten will miss that beaming smile and the big hugs u always gave me. Shine bright up there Bradford wont be the same without u."

His mother had hoped the funeral procession could stop outside the club for half an hour, allowing friends and fans to say goodbye.

West Yorkshire Police had asked for this original idea to be halted in the interests of safety during the pandemic.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, only close family will be attending the funeral.

His death has sent shockwaves through the city but his mother, Carole Freeman, said DJ Glenny's legacy will continue thanks to his 16-year-old daughter and night club - both described as 'the pride of his life'.
