PCSOs with the Bradford East Neighbourhood Policing Team have carried a speed watch on the Harrogate Road junction with Apperley Road in Apperley Bridge.

The NPT said this came at the request of the local community.

The operation came just two days after a woman was killed in a crash on Harrogate Road.

Isma Nawaz, 38, from the Bradford Moor area of Bradford, was on her way to work at the Esso petrol station in Burley-in-Wharfedale when the Vauxhall Astra she was driving was in collision with a Ford Focus parked on Harrogate Road, close to its junction with Parkin Lane.

A total of 14 vehicles were caught speeding in the NPT operation and officers said letters will be issued.

They said that police and Bradford Council in consultation with each other are looking at ways to improve public safety in the area.

Over the past couple of days local NPT officers said they have also targeted nuisance and anti-social behaviour patrols in the Apperley Bridge area.
