Schools signed up to the Telegraph & Argus Cash for Schools giveaway have until tomorrow to increase their chance of winning £10,000.

The T&A has teamed up with Yorkshire Building Society and IKEA to offer schools in the district a chance to win a portion of the windfall.

A total of 96 schools across the district have registered and started collecting mastheads.

This week all mastheads will count as two, meaning schools collecting from this week's editions will get double the amount.

All mastheads collected up to and including tomorrow's edition must include the date - photocopies will not be accepted.

Secondary schools have the chance to win £3,000 cash and primary/nursery schools £2,000.

The school that collects the most mastheads in each sector will scoop the top prize.

In addition, five more schools will each win runner-up prizes of an IKEA account to spend at their store in Birstall at junction 27 of the M62.

Every school which has entered the competition will also receive a consolation prize in the shape of a T&A branded football, a mini T&A rugby ball and a mini T&A football.

Many schools have come up with creative ways the money could be spent.

Denholme Primary School is hoping to hit the high notes if it bags the top prize - by spending the money on instruments for a samba band.

Pupils at Bingley Grammar School aim to go up in the world if they win, putting the money towards a £9,000 climbing wall.

Head teacher Chris Taylor said: "We will be delighted if we win this money from the Telegraph & Argus. If we are successful we will invest the money to help our students climb to even greater heights by investing it in our climbing wall."

Helen Turner, newspaper sales development manager for the T&A, said: "This is a great opportunity for schools to get children, parents, staff and the community involved in making a real difference.

"And this week's mastheads count for double, so it's a really exciting chance for schools to boost their collection numbers."

Schools which have registered for the competition but not yet received entry submission forms should contact Helen on (01274) 705389. All mastheads and entry forms must be returned by Monday, December 3.
