VETERAN fundraiser Jeffrey Long is nearly halfway to his target in his latest fundraising effort.
The 88-year-old Bingley former paratrooper has raised £992 so far in aid of The Care Workers Charity. He has so far visited seven care homes and two care providers in the district.
He is on course to walk about 100 miles in his effort with three more care homes to call into over the next few days.
Mr Long is also giving away handkerchiefs on his walks to cheer up people he has met and has so far handed over more than 200. He said the walks were going very well and ankle pains from an old injury had eased but it was still a challenging target.
