A multi-million pound government initiative seeking to find the next generation of broadcast journalists is coming to the National Media Museum in Bradford.

Mediabox, the £6 million government fund for youth media projects, wants to know what local young people aged 13 to 19 years of age think should be in the news. Five winners will receive £500 and full support to record their own news report.

The winner will be broadcast on the news across Yorkshire.

Mediabox is working in conjunction with the National Media Museum and local broadcasters to supply.

The deadline for entries is December 2, and no experience is necessary to enter. Anyone wishing to participate should write up to 200 words on what news you'd like to report on.

Colin Ward, Youth Media TV Director at the National Media Museum, said: "This is such a cool thing and gives even more young people the chance to experience film making and broadcast journalism - anyone aged 13 to 19 can apply and it's a chance to talk about something that is really important in their life.

" I'd urge anyone interested to just grab the opportunity with both hands and have a go!

"We look forward to working with the finalists to turn their idea for a report into a reality in the workshops here at the National Media Museum."
