WORK to improve a town centre car park will begin next month.
Bradford Council is to resurface Ilkley’s South Hawksworth Street car park. The new surface will complete an upgrade which has included new energy efficient street lighting and an electric vehicle charging point being installed.
Subject to weather conditions, the resurfacing is planned for Monday July 20 and will be carried out in two halves.
The council will keep fifty per cent of the car park open during the works and signs will direct visitors to available spaces. The work is due to be completed by July 31.
Investment in Ilkley Lido and Shipley Leisure Centre among new Council projects
The recycling centre on the site will be closed so the council is asking Ilkley residents to use their grey recycle bins or visit the council’s household waste recycling centre on Golden Butts Road.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “We are very pleased to be upgrading this car park in the centre of Ilkley.
“Resurfacing will tidy things up and the improved facility will be greener with new energy efficient lighting and electric charging points.”
