A VAN was flipped onto its roof and and a cyclist injured after a collision with a car that was being "driven erratically" earlier.

Police first received a report of a silver Lexus being "driven erratically" on the Leeds ring road, near Horsforth, at around 8.50am this morning.

Officers were deployed to the area shortly after the call.

When they arrived, they found the aftermath of a crash on King Lane, Alwoodley.

The collision involved the Lexus, as well as a van and cyclist.

Photos seen by the T&A show the van flipped onto its roof, on a patch of grass at the side of the road.

The front of the Lexus was completely crumpled, with the bonnet bent upwards.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the Lexus, a man in his 40s, in connection with the crash.

He was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "King Lane remains closed at the junction with the Avenue and Buck Stone Crescent, and officers remain at the scene.

A proactive referral has been made to the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct) due to prior police involvement, which is routine in such circumstances."

The AA's traffic page says there is slow traffic on King Lane due to the part closure.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who witnessed the vehicle driving in the area earlier today, is asked to contact police on 101, or via the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website.
