PEOPLE who cannot wear face masks on public transport due to a disability have been urged to download an exemption card for when they travel.

From yesterday all commuters must wear protective face coverings while on buses and trains.

However, anyone with a disability or health problems are exempt from the new rules.

Bradford & District Disabled People’s Forum has produced six different versions of the exemption card for the following disabilities and medical conditions:

- Learning Disability

- Autistic

- Disability

- Health Condition

- Lip Reading

- Breathing Difficulty

Each card features the following message: ‘I have (reason to be exempt here) and am exempt from wearing a face covering. Thank you.’ The overall rules for commuters have been introduced to help protect each other and reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus by wearing a covering.

Commuters have been urged to bring a face covering or mask for their journey; it can be very simple, like a scarf or bandana, It needs to fit well and cover your mouth and nose.

Passengers must wear their face covering throughout the duration of their journey, including when disembarking the bus.
