BRADFORD Council will soon be making contact with all of the 1,200 adult with a learning disability and the 296 young people with the most complex disabilities who it supports across the District.

Social work teams are calling to check on their wellbeing and safety and to discuss any changes to how their support is planned and arranged as lockdown eases.

They will also look to provide enhanced support for those who are vulnerable to Covid-19 and need to remain shielded.

In partnership with BTM, and with advice from the public health team, the Council is also providing more accessible information through a series of easier to read guides on the Council’s coronavirus advice page for people with learning disabilities.

Half of local manufacturers don't think they will reach pre-Covid levels before 2021

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for Health and Wellbeing, said: “During the lockdown, our social work teams have remained in continual contact with everyone we support on a weekly basis. Now that some of the lockdown measures are easing, it more important than ever that we make sure those with learning difficulties and their carers understand what that means for them and the support they will be getting.

“Providing more information on our website will also enable to help them understand how they can remain safe and healthy.”
