Meet the Bradford babies who are rays of sunshine in lockdown!

Willow Kate Wood, born to Nicola Chambers and Ryan Wood of Horton Bank Top, 7lb 8oz, a sister for Jennifer and Katie. Says Nicola: “My labour was a quick. By the time Ryan got to the delivery suite I was in labour. She’s so worth the pain!”

Coralie Squires, born at BRI 6lb 6oz to Elizabeth Pearson and Shaquille Squires of Saltaire. Says Mum: “Dad was allowed into theatre to see her born. A tough birth, more so with coronavirus stress. So proud of our beautiful lockdown baby!”

Elijah Dean Jepson, born at BRI to Laura Quearney and Joseph Jepson of Eccleshill,8lb 3oz, a brother for Harry. “Elijah was induced three weeks early. I had to labour alone as under Covid rules Joseph wasn’t allowed on the ward.”

We asked new parents in the Bradford district to send us pictures of their special babies born in lockdown - and we’re delighted to present these little cuties in the first of our regular series of newborn photos.

Jack Parker, born at BRI to Ellie Hudson and Arran Parker of Shipley, 7lb 12oz, a brother for Harry.

Says Ellie: “After 24 hours of contractions then two hours of constant pushing, baby Jack was born using forceps.”

Louie Jake Dawes, born to Kelsey Shoesmith and Karl Dawes at BRI, 7lb 3oz, a brother for Logan-Joel. Says Kelsey: “Because of Covid I had to go in by myself. A big thanks to BRI staff who delivered our little boy safely during this awful pandemic.”

lt’s a difficult time to have a baby, and many mums have to be in hospital alone, with loved ones having to wait for their first glimpse and cuddle of new arrivals. Congratulations to all you proud parents, and thank you for sharing the beautiful photos that are coming in.

James Henry Garner, born 8lb 4oz at Calderdale to Julie Hainsworth and Steven Garner of Birkenshaw. Says Julie: “I gave birth at Calderdale Hospital, all the staff were lovely - you wouldn’t even think there was a global pandemic happening.”

Harry James Matley, born at Airedale Hospital to Donna Kilby and Michael Matley of Denholme, 6lb 5oz, a brother for Amelia and Charlie-Mai. “Harry was born six days early. Everyone at Airedale was amazing, helping me relax in labour.”

Ilaria Jones, born weighing 7lb 3oz at BRI to Megan Tillett and Ricky Jones of Bradford. Says Megan: “My waters broke at 10.30am on May 3 and I was in labour for 47 hours. I gave birth via c-section at 10.37am on May 5.”

Zain Shahzad, born weighing 5lb 2oz to Sofia Sadiq and Khuram Shahzad of Bradford, and siblings Marwah and Sahil. Says Sofia: “Me and the baby had enough rest but because of Covid 19 the family had to stay at home.”
