NO insurance, no licence, using a mobile phone at the wheel, running a red light and illegal tinted windows. 

These were some of the offences uncovered yesterday during a Steerside operation in the Bradford South area of the city. 

This resulted in:

  • Five drivers reported for traffic offences (mobile phone use) 
  • Four vehicles seized for no insurance, drivers reported.
  • One driver reported for no insurance and no Licence.
  • Two drivers reported for illegal tinted windows. 
  • Seven drivers reported for seatbelt offences.
  • One driver reported for contravening a red traffic light.
  • Two drivers reported for an overweight load 
  • One vehicle recovered after failing to stop for officers. It was displaying cloned plates. 
  • One driver reported for due care and attention
  • Five people searched and cannabis recovered. The suspect was reported to court.

A police spokesperson said: "Operation Steerside is dedicated to taking positive action against anyone whose driving falls below the required standard.

"The team also undertakes to educate drivers as to the effect their driving has on their communities, neutralise the perception of bad driving in the district, increase public confidence in local policing and achieve a tangible reduction in ASB calls for service related to motor vehicles and gather intelligence in relation to offenders.

"We encourage members of public to report any Anti-social use of motor vehicles via 101 or our online web chat service so we can tailor patrols in these areas.

"Bradford South NPT continue to disrupt and deter those intent on speeding and violating traffic laws within Bradford South with a program of education and regular enforcement involving key partner agencies."
