Bingley is set to dazzle from this weekend after its annual light switch on.

The lights will be switched on at 4pm on Saturday following a day of activities around the town's arts centre.

Father Christmas will take time out of his busy schedule to hand out free gifts to children up to the age of six from 1pm.

The youngsters can also climb on board free train rides and get their faces painted.

The Hot Aire Band will entertain visitors from 1pm in the arts centre.

And, the town's fourth lantern procession will illuminate the streets on Saturday, December 8, when hundreds of residents are expected to carry their creations along Main Street and in to Myrtle Park at about 4.30pm.

Workshops will be held to inspire residents on Saturday, December 1, at Church House, Old Main Street, from 10.30am to 5pm. To book, call town centre manager David Dinsey on (01274) 438776.

Mr Dinsey said: "These are two major events taking place in Bingley in the run up to Christmas that must not be missed."
