One of the district's major tourist attractions has extended its period of closure until the end of July.

The Keighley & Worth has also announced the cancellation of a series of summer events, stating that the Government had provided "no significant news regarding the leisure and tourism sector."

Cancelled already were the Vintage Train Sundays, Strawberries & Prosecco in June as well as the Diesel Gala.

Today, the cancellation of the following events or trains were announced

  • Haworth Haddock trains - 1st and 22nd August
  • Sparkle & Steam trains - 8th and 15th August
  • Railway Children 50th Anniversary event - 29th to 31st August
  • "1927 - A day in the life of...." event - 12th September
  • Beer and Music Festival - 22nd to 25th October.

A spokesman for the railway said: "This is an unknown and rapidly changing situation and like all visitor attractions we are looking at how, and when, we can reopen safely. Our volunteers are constantly monitoring the most up-to-date government advice and instructions and working as hard as possible to ensure that we can reopen as soon as possible.

"We will provide further updates on our re-opening in due course. If you have already made a booking with us for an event which has now been cancelled then we would be grateful if you could wait for us to make contact with you directly, so please do look out for our email.

"We are currently expecting that we will be able to operate our popular series of Santa Special Trains in December but possibly to a different format. Further announcements regarding these trains will be made in late summer once the longer term situation becomes clearer."
