A COLOURING competition paying tribute to local NHS staff drew a rainbow of entries.

Modality GP surgeries across Airedale, Craven and Wharfedale invited people to send pictures of the rainbows they have been displaying during the Covid-19 crisis.

The contest attracted more than 50 entries, with the winning entry from 10-year-old Lily Finnett receiving almost 250 likes on Facebook.

Bill Graham, the community lead for the Modality practices, said: "The local support has kept our staff going in the recent difficult times, and the messages of support and the rainbows have been a great source of comfort.

"Congratulations to Lily and to all the people who made an effort to enter the competition!"

Eldwick Primary School pupil Lily recently celebrated her birthday.

Lily’s mother said: "Lily was super excited and very happy to have won the competition, it was a real boost for her.

"Lily’s dad has MS so she has decided to donate the £100 to the MS Society so hopefully help find a cure for that."

In second place was Rachel Scarr, a patient at Cross Hills Group Practice, with the prize money going to the Wobble Room at Airedale Hospital.

Rachel said: "My neighbour who I drew it for is newly-qualified and she mentioned how supportive her manager was in setting up the Wobble Room. I framed it for her to go on the wall so they can be reminded how fantastic they are.”
