BAILDON'S Jigsaw Match scheme has been described as a "lifeline" by at-risk or shielding residents during the pandemic so far.

The scheme has helped people keep their minds active during lockdown with a selection of jigsaws, ranging from 100 to 2000 pieces, available.

The sets can be collected from councillor Debbie Davies' doorstep or delivered as a free loan for an unlimited time.

Baildon Community Link has recently supplied new jigsaws while locals have donated sets of their own.

If anybody would like to borrow a jigsaw, contact cllr Davies via debbie.davies@bradford.gov.uk or call 01274-587834 or 0779 2966 242.

Councillor Davies explained: "Jigsaw Match has been going for a few weeks now and I was prompted to start it by spotting a number of requests for jigsaws on Facebook. I felt that the current situation is particularly hard for people who can't follow their usual routines, going out to work, meeting family and friends and more particularly for less mobile people and those shielding.

"Jigsaws are a great distraction from an abundance of negative news, they can be mentally challenging and time consuming and there is a sense of achievement when you complete one.

"I've had lots of positive comments from people enjoying new jigsaws and with 100 to 2000 piece ones available there is a jigsaw for everyone!

"I dropped a couple of jigsaws off with a lady who is shielding this morning and she described them as her 'lifeline'."
