THE funeral of popular motorcycling figure Mel Harrison is to be held today at 2pm at Nab Wood Cemetery.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there are only to be 10 guests - who have already been identified.

In a statement, Mel's family said: "As we are aware, due to the overwhelming response seen on Facebook, Melvyn was much loved by so many more people.

"If people would like to be part of the funeral, they are able to line the procession route, from the family home (in Bingley) to Nab Wood cemetery, going down Park Road and along the main street heading out towards Nab Wood.

"Those who wish to follow the procession on motorbikes are more than welcome to meet either at the house at 1.15pm, or to join the procession as it passes through Bingley Town Centre.

"As Melvyn hated black attire, the family request colourful clothing to reflect his positive and cheerful disposition. No flowers please."

There is a Just Giving page set up in Mel's memory to fundraise for Airedale General Hospital's Mobile Cancer Care Unit- the Chemo Bus too.
