A LARGE building in Bradford's West End area could be turned into a restaurant if new plans are approved.

Bradford based Overland Developments has submitted a planning application to turn Belfry House on Chester Street into a restaurant with seating spread out over two floors.

There would be a kitchen on the top floor, two bars and a patio terrace.

The building was once home to the popular Che Bar, and has most recently been used by Life Church as a community hub and outreach centre.

The application says the building is currently vacant.

'Virtual reality experience' plan for former discount store

The change of use of the building would create 999 square metres of restaurant space just a short distance from The Alhambra Theatre and the Bradford Live development.

The application says the plans would create six full time and 14 part-time jobs, and the business would open from 5pm to midnight on Monday to Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

A decision on the application is expected late next month.

Life Church were asked about when they stopped using the building, but declined to comment.

A once bustling are of the city, the West End has been hit by the closure of numerous bars and nightclubs in recent years.

Last year a planning application to convert a former nightclub complex opposite Belfrey House into a Church of England Church was approved by Bradford Council.
