LEEDS-BRADFORD Aiport (LBA) is underway with preparations for quarantining travellers arriving into the country.

The airport - which is based just outside of Yeadon - is also getting ready for when people can eventually travel abroad again.

A spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport, said: “LBA is working hard with the industry, airlines, government agencies and business partners to ensure that passengers and staff can return to the airport safely.

"LBA and its partners are considering the full range of coronavirus procedures and technology.”

It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the government would soon be enforcing a 14-day quarantine period for all airline passengers arriving into the UK.

As part of his address to the nation on Sunday evening, he said: "I am serving notice that it will soon be the time – with transmission significantly lower – to impose quarantine on people coming into this country by air."

It will apply to British citizens as well as foreign nationals and is being put in place to prevent re-infection from abroad.

A 50-page Government document released yesterday revealed international travellers coming into the UK will have to tell border officials where they will self-isolate for 14 days.

They will be required to supply contact and accommodation information and will also be "strongly advised" to download and use the NHS contact-tracing app on their phones.

If they cannot provide contact and accommodation details, they face having to quarantine in Government-arranged accommodation.
