BRADFORD fundraiser Nazim Ali is well on his way to reaching the £15,00 he hopes to raise to rebuild and repair over 30 houses in Malawi.

Nazim, from Manningham, who has raised many tens of thousands of pounds to provide food and aid packs for poorer villages in the country, is in training for an annual 10k run he takes part in during Ramadan.

Already he has reached almost £12.000 and hopes to smash his target before he runs on Sunday, May 17.

He said: "I had originally planned to do the Bolton 10K Run but due to the lockdown all races have been cancelled. I will start and finish my Ramadan 10K Run at Kashmiri Aroma Restaurant in Keighley Road in Frizinghall, Bradford.

"During this Ramadan I am aiming to raise £15,000, enough funds to support the rebuild and repair of 33 badly damaged homes in Malawi from Cyclone Idai in March 2019 for Malawian widows, single mothers and poor families.

"Each House Costs Just £450 to rebuild - metal roof installed, plastering, re-built (where appropriate), repointing and painting) including plaques for those who donate the full amount.

"I will be supporting Green Crescent Aid UK operate on a 100 per cent donation policy meaning every penny goes to the stated cause."

For over 22 years Nazin has been at the forefront of community and humanitarian initiatives at the local, national and international levels receiving national awards in the process. He has distributed in person Aid to the Turkey/Syria border on seven occasions, the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, Iraqi refugees in war torn Mosul (Iraq), poverty stricken Malawi and to refugees in France and Belgium all in the last five years.

He has secured and distributed thousands of gifts to Bradford Royal Infirmary and Airedale Hospitals children's wards through the Creating Smiles Gifts Initiative' and he volunteers at the Curry Circle Food Provision serving warm three-course meals to the homeless and vulnerable.
