BRADFORD-based supermarket giant Morrisons is now selling restaurant quality steaks, fish and shellfish for half price to help British farmers and fishermen sell the quality produce that they are struggling to sell.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen their restaurant and export demand diminish but now people can get their hands on the fresh product at the chain's new summer 'steak and seafood bars', open from today.

Stock will include fillets, sirloins, rump and ribeye steaks at massively reduced prices with an 8oz fillet, which normally costs £7.04, now costing just £3.52.

While the sea food offer includes Dover sole, scallops, squid, turbot, and monkfish tails. A king scallop normally costing 66p will be priced at just 33p.

Prices per kilo on steaks are incredibly competitive across the market with customers being able to make a saving of up to 52 per cent compared to other supermarkets like Aldi.

David Potts, Chief Executive of Morrisons, said: “We are playing our full part in feeding the nation and providing a home for some of the top-quality meat and seafood that our country produces.

"The opening of these bars will provide restaurant food at knock-out prices.”
