A POPULAR Saltaire music venue is going online with live performances from later this week.

The Live Room, which used to run regular shows at its Caroline Street Social Club base, will launch its virtual offering from Friday, April 24 at 8pm.

The first Live Room Live Online show will feature guest artist Luke Jackson, who has recently returned from a tour of the USA.

Hilary Booth, of The Live Room, said: "Using the power of the internet was an obvious route to keep in touch with our artists and give musicians an outlet.

“We've seen many artists doing Facebook and Instagram live broadcasts for tips, but we didn't want to go that route.

“We wanted to continue with a version of The Live Room with as much of the same intimacy of the club itself we could manage.

“We've had to overcome some hurdles and there are still going to be technical limits for some artists and audience members in this new world, but we're all learning fast."

The aim is to broadcast a live show every Friday at 8pm over the coming weeks and they have artists booked from the UK, USA and Australia, who will all be performing live from their homes.

The shows will also feature an interview and questions sent in by audience members.

Tickets for each show are £10 and £8 for Live Room members and are available from theliveroom.info
