A SKIPTON drag entertainer has found a unique way to keep the pub audience he had before lockdown entertained and made to feel as though they were enjoying a night out.

Scott Hallas, 35, has been ‘doing drag for years’ and has worked far and wide including singing and DJ work.

He has been performing his popular act under the name ‘Dragalicious’ at the Cross Keys and The Fleece pubs in Skipton since moving here in 2017 from Bradford.

He started working for Timmy Tease and Natasha Harford at The Sun Hotel, in Bradford, around five years ago and before the lockdown was presenting his act on Wednesday and Friday nights there with co-worker and friend Danny Harrison aka ‘King’, and also on Saturday and Sunday nights at The Fleece, in Skipton, where he is currently living.

Scott said: “At both venues we just try and bring something that little bit different to the area. We are unique but proud to be.

“When lockdown was announced Danny was living alone in Bradford and was fairly isolated so he moved over to Skipton to stay with me so we both had company and didn’t go totally insane.

“About a week into lockdown I started to feel the boredom set in and I missed being Dragalicious! That’s when I came up with the idea of hosting Facebook live feeds along the same lines as a night out at The Fleece would actually take.

“I’m a live singer as well as a DJ so I thought why not mix them together and pop together a two hour show that people at home could hopefully enjoy? Almost like bringing The Fleece and The sun in to their living rooms. The response has been overwhelming, the amount of messages I have received thanking me and telling me it’s been a welcome relief has been absolutely lovely. In reality they’re helping me as much as I’m helping them, it’s just a bit different trying to be sassy with a phone screen instead of a pub full of customers.”

The pair host the live events each Wednesday and Saturday night from 8pm to 10pm and are currently marching through the decades, taking in different genres and time periods of music each session while the audience interacts with the performers through the social media platform.

“As long as we can make even just a few people smile and feel less alone during the lockdown then it’s all been worth it,” he added.

Details of the live-streamed events can be found on The Fleece, Skipton, and The Sun Hotel, Bradford, Facebook pages.
