BRADFORD'S Morrisons is dramatically increasing the number of food boxes it delivers to vulnerable people and key workers.

Two weeks ago the supermarket started producing 10,000 food boxes, which are delivered to customers' homes the next day during the outbreak.

By next week this number will increase to 100,000 a week as production has started at three new sites.

Despite the massive increase, the firm still expects to regularly sell out of the popular boxes, so is aiming to hit more than 200,000 over the coming weeks.

The boxes are delivered to customers' doors by DPD and are priced from £30. Morrisons has also launched a further two new options, including a meal box and meat box.

Chief executive, David Potts said the boxes were "a lifeline for many customers".

: “These food boxes are a lifeline for many customers at this very difficult time and are providing essential food to people that either cannot leave their home or struggle to reach the supermarket.

"They are one of the ways we are playing our full part in feeding the nation.”

The boxes are particularly suitable;e for vulnerable customers and key workers.
