A PUB on the outskirts of Bradford city centre could be converted into shops and flats if new plans are approved.

The Black Swan on Thornton Road used to be a popular pub and live music venue, but the building, over a century old, is currently vacant, having been sold last year.

A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council to end the building’s use as a pub.

Submitted by a Mr Usman, the application would see the pub converted into two small ground floor shops, with new aluminium shop fronts, and eight flats.

Two studio flats would be created at the rear of the ground floor, while the first floor would be reconfigured to create two studio and two once bed flats.

Two one-bed flats would also be created on the second floor.

Work to convert the ground floor into shops appears to have already been completed.

A decision on the application is due to be made next month.
