THIS is how a car ended up after a crash near Brighouse on Monday night.

The vehicle seemingly careered through metal barriers on the roadside, which were being used to fence off a construction site.

The vehicle then ended nose down in a pile of concrete blocks.

The site is next to the public footpath between Brooke Street and Bramston Gardens.

One onlooker said it happened at around 6.15pm and speculated the car had been chased by police from Field Lane, Rastrick.

They added that they thought the driver jumped from the car before it crashed and fled the scene.

West Yorkshire Police were contacted for further comment and clarification on the incident, but have not yet responded.

One observer said: “The car ended up in a very precarious-looking position after crashing through some temporary railings.

“It will take quite a lot of hard work to fish it out from there.”
