PEOPLE have until tomorrow to give their views on plans to introduce a Clean Air Zone in Bradford.

The plan, which was originally due to be introduced next Autumn, would see the most polluting HGVs, taxis, coaches and busses charged daily to entre the zone, which includes the city centre and stretches to Shipley.

A consultation on the proposals ends on Wednesday.

The scheme is dependent on a £60 million grant from the government that would be used to provide grants to vehicle owners to upgrade their vehicles.

Clean air zone plan hailed as 'momentous' step in improving Bradford's health

The Clean Air Zone plan follows a “ministerial direction” to Bradford Council from the government in 2018 in response to the high pollution levels in the city.

It ordered a reduction in pollution to legal levels as soon as possible to protect the health of the District's population.

A similar scheme will be introduced in Leeds this year.
