A BRIGHOUSE engineering firm has been lending its expertise in stainless steel to produce parts for much needed medical equipment in the fight against COVID-19.

Flow Technology was contacted by a consortium supplying parts for ventilators just over a week ago, and workers at the firm have been able to turn their hand to create the fittings which will allow the flow of oxygen to the equipment.

Director Julian Selby said: "We have long been associated with the medical gas supply industry but to be asked to help with this vital need for equipment has proved humbling and provided a sense of pride – the staff have been working flat out on a 24 hour basis to cover the quantities needed.

"All of our people have been totally committed to getting the work out on time and we could not ask for more.

“The local community have been hugely supportive which just shows that in a desperate situation like this people have come together to beat this threat."

He added that the firm, which is based at Hove Edge and has 40 years manufacturing experience, had been asked to supply 1,200 of the parts. They were expecting to ship the fittings out by the middle of this week.
