A MAN has been identified by police following an attempted robbery in a shop.
Police put out an appeal following the robbery in which a shop assistant at Pam’s Pantry in Brierfield was threatened with a knife.
At around 2.15pm three men entered the Burnley Road shop, one carrying a knife and threatened the shop assistant while another demanded money from the till.
After a struggle, all three left empty-handed and escaped towards Lord Street. There were no reported injuries.
A statement by Pendle police read: "The third person we wanted to trace has now been identified.
"This is in addition to 2 teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, from Nelson, handing themselves in shortly after the appeal went out. Many thanks for your shares.
Detective Constable Heather McAtee had said: “This is a serious offence regardless of the current situation with COVID-19.
"However, I would like to stress that Pam’s Pantry is a local convenience shop selling essential supplies to the local community and this offence against the staff there who are key workers is totally unacceptable."
