FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a spate of deliberate blazes in Wrexham overnight.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call shortly after 3am on Saturday reporting several bins and vehicles alight in White Lion Close, Summerhill.
Two crews from Wrexham attended the scene and firefighters used a hose reel jet and a bucket of water to tackle the flames.
A spokesman for the fire service told the Leader the incident caused varying amounts of damage to the vehicles and bins. The cause was deliberate ignition.
The fire service then received a call just minutes later reporting two cars and a bin alight in nearby Heol Hyfryd.
After tackling these, it was confirmed these fires had also been started deliberately.
Just after 5.30am, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a further alert of blazes in White Lion Close.
One crew from Wrexham returned to the scene to find two separate fires - which were also confirmed to have been started by deliberate ignition.
One resident of White Lion Close, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was a scary experience to be honest, with how close it was to my property.
"After the first fire was put out, another was one was set.
"It was just unexpected. I feel sorry for those who have lost their means of transport especially during the outbreak, what if they are key workers?"
