BRADFORD South MP Judith Cummins visited a community organisation to see first-hand the work it is doing to support elderly and vulnerable people through the coronavirus crisis.

The Sandale Trust, on Reevy Road West, Buttershaw, is delivering food and medicine to elderly people in isolation and co-ordinating the provision of meals to vulnerable children.

It has launched a 'Spare a Quid' campaign to keep its food bank stocked over the coming weeks.

Mrs Cummins said: “Sandale Trust, like many community organisations, is playing a vital role supporting people through this difficult period.

"They are on the frontline, delivering food to those isolating and supporting the community as a whole. They urgently need assistance to continue this work, so please donate if you can.”

Andy Walsh, Chief Executive of Sandale Trust, added: “Local community groups and residents have come together to support our communities in the last few weeks.

"It’s inspiring. But with families not working and vulnerable people having to self-isolate, demand has gone through the roof. We’re asking for small donations of £1 from that coffee you would have had this weekend if it weren’t for staying at home so that we can keep supporting our community during this challenging time”
