BEWARE of doorstep traders selling fish - trading standards officers have warned.
North Yorkshire Trading Standards says a resident paid £30 for two packets of fish from a cold caller who knocked on their door.
But after the fish sellers left, they discovered the fish was not fresh and was full of bones - despite the resident being told it would have no bones.
And officers warned that the doorstep traders did not observe social distancing measures.
The incident happened at about 2pm yesterday, Thursday, in Harrogate.
One man was knocking on doors while another was driving a white van.
A trading standards spokesperson said fish sellers have been a regular problem in North Yorkshire - with traders using intimidation to force customers to buy large amounts of fish they do not want, are not able to store or eat.
Anyone with information should call trading standards on 0808 223 1133 or the police on 101.
