A MAN who crashed a stolen quad bike into a hedge was detained by members of the public until police arrived.
Northern Yorkshire Police said the man has appeared in court charged with stealing a quad bike from the Yorkshire Dales.
They said that at about 3pm on Friday, March 27, a witness reported that he had seen a suspected stolen quad bike being ridden through Burnsall.
The quad bike subsequently crashed into a hedge near Addingham and the rider was detained by members of the public until police officers arrived.
The man has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance, and appeared in court over the weekend.
