A FURTHER seven people have died of coronavirus in the Bradford district's hospitals.

Four people have died at Airedale Hospital and three at the Bradford Royal Infirmary.

The deaths were announced by NHS England this afternoon.

Two people died at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust on March 30 and two more on the 31st.

Two people died at the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on March 29 and one on the 31st.

It means that a total of seven people have died at BRI and nine at Airedale.

A spokesperson for Airedale said: "Sadly, we can confirm that, since the coronavirus outbreak began, nine patients who were being cared for in our hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.

"Their families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time. We would ask that their privacy is respected."

They said they could give no further details about the ages of the patients who died and whether they had any underlying health conditions, as did spokespeople for the Bradford and Mid Yorkshire trusts.

As of April 1, the Bradford Trust's latest figures for Covid-19 patients in its hospitals was:

Total number tested positive to date – 86

Total number tested negative to date – 554

Confirmed Covid-19 inpatients currently at Bradford Royal Infirmary – 37

Confirmed Covid-19 patients currently in ICU – 4

Total Covid-19 deaths – 7

There were a further five deaths reported by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust:  three on March 31, one on the 27th and one on the 29th. They have had a total of 27 deaths.

Seven extra deaths were recorded by Mid Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust: three on March 30, three on the 31st and one on the 29th. They have had a total of 21 deaths.

NHS England said a further 486 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 2,137.

Patients were aged between 13 and 99 years old.

Twenty of the 486 patients (aged between 13 and 93 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

Their families have been informed.

The daily statements comprise the number of deaths which have been reported by trusts and verified in the 24 hours prior to 5pm the previous day.
