ELLAND Road Park and Ride has been closed from Tuesday due to the significant reduction in the number of people travelling into Leeds during the coronavirus pandemic.

Temple Green Park and Ride has also been closed.

Leeds City Council have made council run car parks and on street parking bays in Leeds free to use. Priority should be given to NHS staff, social workers and other key workers.

Those who need to use public transport for essential journeys are being urged to regularly check wymetro.com and @metrotravelnews on Twitter for the latest information before they travel.

Working with the operators, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority will keep public transport provision under review to make sure it is meeting the needs of key workers.

A West Yorkshire Combined Authority spokesperson said: “Due to a fall in customer demand and the availability of free city centre parking for key workers, the decision has been taken to close Elland Road and Temple Green park and ride services.

“We continue to urge people to stay at home unless their journey is essential and to follow social-distancing guidelines if they do have to travel.

“Customers should always check for the latest updates before they travel.”
