A FLINTSHIRE business has given away all kinds of plants to create smiles in their community.

Daleside Garden Centre, in Hawarden, called for care homes and allotment members to get in touch last week after offering out plans and bulbs which might otherwise have gone to waste.

Regional manager Ian Mccavish told the Leader a huge response followed, explaining: "It was the initiative of the centre manager, Jason Norman, and his team.

"We've had about 150 people getting in touch and we have given away all kinds of bedding plants, veg and bulbs.

"It's been a fantastic response and people have said they are made up to have it.

"We just thought that rather than throwing them away we'd rather get them out into the community and create a few smiles - especially at this dark time.

"The centre really wants to be part of the local community and initiatives like this one by the team are a really strong way of showing how much they care about it."
