MOTORISTS across North Wales have been reminded to travel only when "absolutely necessary".
Traffic Wales reiterated the rule on Tuesday afternoon with a message to its followers on Twitter.
A spokesman said: "Our road network is vital for the transport of key workers, delivery of food and medicines and the emergency services.
"We’re doing everything we can to keep our network running smoothly you can help us by only using it for essential journeys.
"This will help protect our NHS, delay the spread of Coronavirus and save lives.
"Government guidelines state you should only travel for the following reasons: to shop for necessities, to seek medical care, when travelling to and from work if you absolutely cannot work from home.
"The Traffic Officer Service works incredibly hard, 365 days a year, to ensure the network is safe to use.
"Please help them during this outbreak by minimising your chance of breaking down while out on the road and driving responsibly to ensure they’re able to focus resources where they’re needed most.
"Please do not travel unless absolutely necessary."
In order to minimise the chance of a breakdown, those who do need to travel for the above reasons have been reminded to ensure their vehicle is roadworthy.
The spokesman added: "You must ensure your vehicle is safe to drive before setting off on a journey. "You should carry out a walkaround check of the vehicle before your journey and check the lights, tyres, wheel fixings, bodywork, trailer coupling, load and other equipment.
