A CITY food bank has been given a helping hand thanks to a donation from Bradford College’s training restaurant.

The Grove, Bradford College’s training restaurant based in the College’s David Hockney Building, is closed but its food stores are going to help vulnerable people in Bradford after safeguarding officer John Harmasch, restaurant manager Richard Barker and the College’s security team arranged for the food to be collected by Bradford Central Foodbank.

Craig Tupling, Vice Principal (Quality & Student Experience), said: “Thanks to John’s idea and quick actions, people facing hardship in Bradford will get a hot meal.”

Perishable food from The Grove fridge as well as a few other items from the store room were delivered to the food bank. Their staff said that some of the “bulk food” will be used to make meals for those most vulnerable during this difficult time.

The Grove Restaurant is a student-run restaurant with student-friendly prices. Recruiting chefs and front of house staff from levels 1, 2 and 3 hospitality and catering courses, The Grove allows the talented chefs of tomorrow to show off their culinary skills today.
