A MAN has bene fined for ignoring social distancing rules by being drunk in public.
Burnley Police approached the man who had been drinking and was relaxing outside.
A spokesman for the police said: "Team 3 have been out and about looking after people's safety today.
"In the main people have followed the coronavirus restrictions and as a result only one person has been ticketed under the Covid19 legislation.
"This person thought it was okay to relax outdoors whilst extremely drunk.
"This is not what we would deem to be exercise or essential.
"However we are now starting get more reports of gathering and these will be looked into in due course."
Police urge people not to ignore social distancing rules as they can issue fines of £60 to those disregarding them.
