A 16-year-old girl suffered serious head and leg injuries in a collision this afternoon. 

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.25pm today following reports of a crash involving a female pedestrian and a car on Shipley Airedale Road.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "The pedestrian – a 16-year-old girl had sustained serious head and leg injuries.

"The vehicle had failed to stop at the scene of the incident.

"The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary.

"Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening."

The spokesperson added: "At about 2.35pm, a 22-year-old man attended a local police station in connection with the incident.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision to determine the identity of the vehicle and driver involved."

The air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene, but the girl was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
