Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court is hearing only urgent prisoner remand cases and its public areas are closed.
A notice on the door headed ‘Magistrates’ Court changes’ reads: “This court will only hear urgent cases today (overnight custody and prisoner production). Parties involved in all other hearings should not attend court unless contacted directly. You’ll be notified of new hearing date. Where appropriate, existing bail conditions will apply.”
The city’s Combined Court Centre, home to the Crown and County courts, has also closed all public areas and information counters.
Just one case was being heard today: an appeal against sentence on a video link.
No cases at all are listed for tomorrow in any of the eight criminal courts.
All inquests have also been postponed. It's understood the situation will be reviewed in around a month's time.
