A LEADER figure has expressed his gratitude for NHS staff and all workers carrying out crucial roles in the county.
West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Mark Burns-Williamson, gave "a huge thank you" to all those helping to fight the coronavirus outbreak, including NHS staff and police officers.
He said: "They are working flat out, in many cases in harm’s way, in order to keep us all safe.
"They deserve our respect and kindness, whether that is by staying home to reduce the spread of this COVID-19 virus, or being considerate in the amount of food we’re buying, making sure there is enough for everyone.
"We've all seen the heart-breaking photos and videos of key workers and vulnerable people staring at empty shelves and there is no excuse or reason for that to have happened or continue to happen."
The PCC has also launched a dedicated coronavirus page on his website, which contains useful information and support.
