AN elderly woman in Leeds who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. 

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the news.

Dr Yvette Oade, Chief Medical Officer at the Trust, said: “We can confirm that, sadly, a patient who was in our care, who had tested positive for COVID-19, has died. 

CORONAVIRUS LATEST:

"The patient was in her 80s and had underlying health conditions.Her family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

The latest Public Health England figures say there are:

  • 11 cases in Bradford 
  • 386 cases in the North East and Yorkshire NHS region
  • 5,683 cases in the UK (up by 665 on Saturday's figure)
  • 135 patients have recovered
  • 281 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died
