BRADFORD Council has given further details of its closure of its sport and leisure centres including pools that was announced last night in line with Government advice.

Memberships and direct debits will be suspended and the closures will remain in place throughout March and April.

The council says it will be monitoring developments and following government guidance with regards to when it may then be appropriate and practical for us to reopen its sites.

"The health and safety of all our visitors and of the council staff has to be the priority," its statement said.

It added: "As you will appreciate, this decision has been made with a great sense of urgency and at the moment we do not have all the answers and we politely request some time to ensure we get everything together to be able to answer all your questions and for the team to all have the required information.

"We will be providing on-going communication and providing FAQ’s to ensure everyone has the required information to answer all your queries.

"We have suspended all our ClubActive Memberships and Bradford Aquatics Lessons direct debits which will mean that no further payments will be made during this period of closure. This means that you do not have to do anything in regards to your payments as we have taken care of this and ask that you do not cancel your direct debits as this will stop future access to the service."
