Statements:

A statement from Beckfoot Phoenix said: "It is with regret that we have now taken the very difficult decision to close the school to all children from Wednesday, March 18.

"We will be reviewing this on a regular basis.

"As a school and Trust, we have come to this decision based on guidance from Public Health England with regard to social distancing and the importance of shielding the most vulnerable.

"School remains open to staff."

A statement from Beechcliffe Special School said: "Beechcliffe school is closed from Wednesday, March 18 due to high levels of absences linked to COVID-19 symptoms.

"We will update you as soon as we have more information."

A statement from Chellow Heights Special School said: "Chellow Heights leadership, along with other special schools, have taken the view that this new guidance suggests that a special school environment, with daily PTS transport journeys, is a riskier place for your child to be during the 'delay phase' of the epidemic, than to be at home with you, where you can shield them from contact with others as far as is possible.

"This means that we will close both Chellow Heights School West and South with effect from Wednesday, March 18, along with the other special schools.

"We continue to meet and work closely with them, the Local Authority in Bradford, and Public Health England and expect to give you our first update on March 18.

"We know this will be a very difficult time for you all and apologise for this but we believe that your child's safety has to remain our priority."

A statement from Hazelbeck Special School said: "The Government has advised that vulnerable people should be shielded for the next 12 weeks.

"It is with regret that we have now taken the very difficult decision to close the school to all young people from Wednesday, March 18.

"We will be reviewing this on a regular basis.

"As a school and Trust, we would like to reassure you that we have no confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) within school.

"We have come to this decision based on guidance from Public Health England with regard to social distancing and the importance of shielding the most vulnerable.

"Please be assured that we are putting young people's health first in making this decision and will be supporting families in whatever way we can during this difficult time.

"We will be reviewing the situation regularly and will keep parents/carers updated."
