WHAT is scary about the outbreak of coronavirus is the speed at which it has changed our whole lives.

Just a month ago we were going about our business, obviously worrying about it, but still leading normal lives, not imagining for one minute what was to come. Then it hit. "This is like something from a film," my friend said.

My parents are in their eighties, fit and active, and will now need to live very different lives.

People have stopped socialising, places of work have closed. My youngest daughter works in a theatre, which has shut its doors.

To think that something which started in a market at the other side of the world

could cause all this.
