A handful of places have become available at a popular Steeton based nursing home that was established almost 40 years ago.

Czajka Care Group, the family-run business that operates Currergate Nursing Home, is renowned throughout Yorkshire for the quality of care it provides and now has a limited number of places available.

Situated between Keighley and Skipton, Currergate Nursing Home is one of the few nursing homes in the region to be awarded the prestigious Gold Standard Framework Platinum accreditation, in recognition of its exceptionally high standards.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

“Residents at Currergate are at the heart of everything we do,” explained the home’s manager, Cath Davies, who has worked for Czajka Care Group for almost 2 years. She said: “Our home’s main focus is on quality of care, but it also bustles with activities and events.

“Choosing a nursing home, whether it’s on a full-time basis or for respite care, or short-breaks, can be daunting. That’s why we make sure anyone thinking of moving into a home can speak in detail to our staff and residents.

“The ladies and gentlemen that live at Currergate are part of our family, and we work hard to ensure they feel very much at home here. We encourage them to bring as many personal belongings and smaller items or furniture as they wish, and those that love the outdoors often choose one of our ground floor rooms which have patio doors leading out onto our terraces and delightful gardens.

“At Currergate the residents pick and choose what they want to engage in when it comes to group activities. Many of them love to join us on trips and outings. Whether it’s a shopping trip to Boundary Mill, fish and chips at Bannys or afternoon tea at Herriot’s Hotel in Skipton, there is always something to look forward to.

“At the heart of our nursing home is the beautiful oak panelled lounge where residents can relax, socialise, watch television or listen to music. There’s also a large conservatory where we host fabulous events. Most recently the retired Steeton Male Voice Choir came to perform for us all which was very popular.

“We care for people aged 65 and over, although exceptions can be made for younger people by arrangement and we now have 4 ladies in our very special centenarian club! We have recently helped Freda and Irene celebrate their 100th birthdays, with Gywnne and Laura celebrating their 102nd and 103rd birthdays.

“With high speed Wi-Fi our residents can use the internet and stay in touch with family and friends using social media and Skype. They also use Alexa and other devices to access news, music and talking books. Our residents can choose to have their meals in the large dining room, enjoy a drink from our well stocked bar or eat in their rooms when they wish. With plenty to do from daily exercise classes, coffee mornings, sing-alongs and outings our residents never feel lonely.”

As well as the Gold Standard Framework, Currergate Nursing Home is also accredited as an Investors in People organisation, demonstrating its commitment to developing staff and ensuring continuous improvement. It has an impressive infection control rating of 99.2% and an overall Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating of ‘good’.

Czajka Care Group is a family run business that was established in Saltaire in 1983 and operates 5 nursing and care homes as well as offering a range of purpose-built retirement houses and apartments.
